Il presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump ha sbattuto varie criptovalute dicendo che erano “basate sul nulla” e ha osservato che Facebook e altre società, che emettono criptovalute, dovrebbero operare in linea con le regole bancarie come le altre banche.

”Non sono un fan di Bitcoin e di altre Cryptovalute, che non sono denaro, e il cui valore è altamente volatile e basato sul nulla. Le Cryptovalute non regolamentate possono facilitare comportamenti illeciti, incluso il traffico di droga e altre attività illegali. la valuta virtuale avrà poca reputazione o affidabilità.

Se Facebook e altre aziende vogliono diventare una banca, devono cercare una nuova Carta bancaria ed essere soggetti a tutti i regolamenti bancari, proprio come le altre banche, sia nazionali che internazionali”, ha scritto Trump in una serie di tweets.

Facebook ha annunciato a giugno che intendeva lanciare la propria criptovaluta Libra nel 2020.

Il gigante dell’IT ha detto che la criptovaluta sarebbe stata gestita da un’organizzazione svizzera senza scopo di lucro, denominata Associazione Libra.

Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity. Similarly, Facebook Libra’s ‘virtual currency’ will have little standing or dependability. If Facebook and other companies want to become a bank, they must seek a new Banking Charter and become subject to all Banking Regulations, just like other Banks, both National and International,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets late on Thursday.

Facebook announced in June that it planned to launch its own cryptocurrency Libra in 2020. The IT giant has said that the cryptocurrency would be operated by a Swiss non-profit organization, called the Libra Association.
