Lo ha detto il segretario della Casa Bianca Sarah Sanders in una conferenza stampa. Il portavoce ha aggiunto che i funzionari statunitensi e cinesi continuano ad impegnarsi in negoziati commerciali.

Trump ha annunciato in un post su Twitter il mese scorso che avrebbe ritardato un altro aumento programmato delle tariffe su un valore di 200 miliardi di dollari di merci cinesi che era stato originariamente fissato per il 1 marzo, citando i progressi nei negoziati commerciali. Al vertice del G20 in Argentina a dicembre, Trump e Xi hanno concordato una tregua di 90 giorni per lasciare spazio a un nuovo accordo commerciale.

No date has been set for a summit between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to finalize a bilateral trade deal between the two countries, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a press briefing on Monday.

“In terms of whether or not we have a date set, not yet,” Sanders said.

The spokesperson added that US and Chinese officials continue to engage in trade negotiations.

China and the United States have been embroiled in a trade dispute since last June, when Trump announced that the United States would subject $50 billion worth of Chinese goods to 25 percent tariffs in a bid to fix the US-Chinese trade deficit. Since then, the two countries have exchanged several rounds of tit-for-tat trade tariffs.

Trump announced in a Twitter post last month that he would delay another planned increase in tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods that was originally set for March 1, citing progress in the trade talks.

At the G20 summit in Argentina in December, Trump and Xi agreed upon a 90-day truce to allow room for a new trade agreement.
