Visita a sorpresa del presidente siriano Bashar Assad a Sochi dove ieri ha incontrato il presidente russo Vladimir Putin. Che si è congratulato con Assad “per i risultati registrati nella lotta contro i terroristi” e per i progressi che porteranno “ad una inevitabile sconfitta dei miliziani”. Assad – secondo quanto riferisce un comunicato del Cremlino – ha voluto ringraziare Mosca per aver preservato l’integrità politica della Siria. E si è detto certo che la Russia “supporterà Damasco affinché vengano evitate interferenze esterne nel processo politico in corso”. Assad si è inoltre detto disponibile a dialogare con tutti gli attori coinvolti nel conflitto in Siria.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday met with his Syrian counterpart Bashar Assad in the Russian city of Sochi, Kremlin said on Tuesday. “Negotiations between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar Assad, who arrived in Russia with an official visit, took place on November 20,” the Kremlin press service said in a statement.According to the statement, the Russian leader congratulated Assad “with the results that Syria has been achieving in the fight against terrorist groups,” adding that the Syrian people are “going through very difficult challenges and are gradually coming closer to the final and inevitable defeat of the terrorists.”Syrian President Bashar Assad said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that thanks to Russia, Syria was saved as a state, the Kremlin said in a statement on its website. Damascus hopes for Russia’s support in providing non-interference in the political process in Syria, Syrian President Bashar Assad said. Assad added that Damascus was ready for a dialogue with any party that is interested in political settlement in Syria.
