Il Rappresentante permanente britannico all’Unione europea, Tim Barrow ha consegnato al presidente del Consiglio europeo, Donald Tusk la lettera ufficiale firmata dal premier Theresa May che notifica l’attivazione della procedura di Brexit. Secondo quanto previsto dall’articolo 50 del Trattato di Lisbona da questo momento scorre il termine di due anni per concludere la procedura di uscita dall’Unione. Il Regno Unito dunque dovrebbe lasciare l’Ue entro il 29 marzo 2019.

UK Permanent Representative to the European Union Tim Barrow gave on Wednesday to European Council President Donald Tusk a letter of official notification of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the bloc, signed by UK Prime Minister Theresa May. According to the rules set out by the Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, the country which wishes to withdraw from the bloc has to do so two years after the official notification. Therefore, the United Kingdom should leave the European Union on March 29, 2019.
