Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is less popular among Britons than US President Donald Trump while both are dragging behind UK Prime Minister Theresa May, a poll showed Tuesday. According to results of research conducted by the pollster GfK, Corbyn’s activities are supported by 17 percent of those polled while 18 percent expressed approval of the job Donald Trump was doing as US President. The politicians’ activities were, in turn, disapproved by 58 and 60 percent of Britons respectively, while almost 2 out of 10 said they could not assess the work of either of the two political figures. Meanwhile, Theresa May is supported by 46 percent of Britons, while 33 percent disapprove of the job she is doing as prime minister. In addition, May is more popular than the country’s government as a whole, which is supported by only 4 out of 10 Britons, with the same number disapproving of its activities. The “no opinion” option was chosen by 21 percent of those polled concerning both May and the government. Where Brexit is concerned, the poll found that 46 percent of Britons consider it the “right decision”, while 41 percent characterized it as wrong, and 13 percent said they did not know. “With Theresa May clearly more popular than the Government as a whole and the Conservatives significantly ahead in the polls, it looks like Labour is a long way from power,” GfK Research Director Keiran Pedley pointed out. The poll was carried out online among 1,938 UK citizens aged 18 or above, during March 1-15, 2017.
