Le forze irachene hanno liberato 14 villaggi dello Stato Islamico in un quartiere di Mosul durante il primo giorno dell’operazione militare per riprendere la parte occidentale della città. Lo ha riferito il tenente generale Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, il comandante dell’operazione. Ieri il primo ministro iracheno Haider Abadi ha annunciato l’inizio delle operazioni per liberare la parte occidentale di Mosul dai militanti dello Stato islamico. Le forze irachene sono anche riuscite a prendere il controllo della centrale elettrica principale, che alimenta tutta la riva occidentale di Mosul.
