Trump could meet new candidates for the National Security Advisor position at his Mar-a-Lago resort this weekend, the official told the White House press pool. Former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn resigned on Monday over allegations he misled senior US officials, including Vice President Mike Pence, about the extent of his talks with the Russian ambassador to the United States before Trump’s inauguration. Flynn did not concede any wrongdoing in his resignation letter, saying that he inadvertently briefed Pence and others with incomplete information regarding his phone calls with the Russian ambassador. Flynn’s first potential replacement, Robert Harward, declined the post on Thursday. Earlier Friday, White House chief of staff Reince Priebus denied reports that Harward declined the job because of staffing disputes. Priebus said Harward’s family did not support him taking the job.
