Mosca e Damasco non hanno differenze fondamentali in merito al progetto di una nuova Costituzione siriana, ma Damasco considera la discussione prematura. Lo ha annunciato l’inviato presidenziale speciale della Federazione per il paese mediorientale, Alexander Lavrentyev. “Non ci sono divergenze fondamentali tra Russia e Damasco per quanto riguarda il lavoro sulla nuova Costituzione -ha spiegato -. La delegazione siriana ha ritenuto prematuro discutere i temi della costituzione all’interno del formato attuale”. Lavrentyev ha ricordato che il presidente siriano Bashar Assad ha sottolineato che Damasco non ha avuto obiezioni alla riforma costituzionale e che il progetto dovrebbe essere adottato in un referendum o in un altro formato.

Moscow and Damascus has no fundamental differences concerning a a draft for a new Syrian constitution, but Damascus considers its discussion premature, Russia’s special presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev said Thursday. “There are no fundamental disagreements regarding the work on the new constitution between Russia and Damascus … The Syrian delegation considered it premature to discuss the issues of the constitution within the current format,” Lavrentyev said. Lavrentyev reminded that Syrian President Bashar Assad stressed that Damascus had no objections to constitutional reform and that the draft should be adopted on a referendum or in some other format.
