I curdi siriani “non si aspettano alcuna svolta dai colloqui siriani tenuti ad Astana”. Lo ha detto il presidente del governo provinciale di Kobani Anwar Muslim, spiegando che la tenuta del cessate il fuoco in Siria è già stato un buon segno. “I curdi – ha ricordato – non sono stati invitati a questi negoziati, nonostante il fatto che noi controlliamo un’ampia area della Siria e abbiamo combattuto con successo l’Is. Il gruppo che siede al tavolo con il regime è composto di briganti. Stanno uccidendo persone”. Muslim ha ammesso che il cessate il fuoco viene rispettato: “Non ci sono scontri, noi siamo in guerra solo con l’Is”. Il primo round di colloqui ad Astana si è tenuto il 23 e 24 gennaio. Con il risultato che Russia, Turchia e Iran si sono accordati per stabilire un meccanismo trilaterale per monitorare il cessate il fuoco. Il prossimo round fi colloqui ad Astana è fissato il 15 e 16 febbraio. In giornata è arrivata la conferma che i negoziati siriani a Ginevra prenderanno il via il 23 febbraio.

Syrian Kurds do not expect any breakthrough from the intra-Syrian talks in Astana, chairman of the Kobani provincial government Anwar Muslim told Sputnik on Tuesday, saying that a holding ceasefire in Syria was already a good sign. “We do not expect much from Astana [talks]. First, the Kurds are not invited to these negotiations, despite the fact that we control a large area of Syria and successfully fight the IS [Islamic State, outlawed in Russia]. The group that sits [during talks] at one [table] with the [official] regime are bandits. They were killing people. So, we do not expect much from these talks. For these groups it is important to defend their own interests and continue to control their territories,” Muslim said. At the same time, he acknowledged that the ceasefire in Syria was generally being respected. “There are no clashes, we are at war only with the IS,” he added. The first round of the Astana talks on Syrian reconciliation took place on January 23-24. As a result, Russia, Turkey and Iran agreed to establish a trilateral mechanism to monitor the ceasefire regime in Syria. The next round of Astana talks is planned for February 15-16. Earlier in the day, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura’s spokeswoman Yara Sharif confirmed that the UN-brokered intra-Syrian negotiations in Geneva would begin on February 23.
