Russia’s government debt is expected to total 14.6 percent of GDP this year, the Russian Finance Ministry said Monday. The basic trends of state debt policy in 2017-2019 compiled by the ministry also see next year’s debt edging by 0.3 percent to 14.9 percent of GDP, and totaling 15.3 percent of GDP in 2019. “Debt policy pursued in recent years, including measures to develop the domestic debt market, has substantially contributed to the stabilization of the cost of servicing Russia’s government debt,” the ministry said. The ministry says internal debt is expected to total 10.6 percent of GDP, and foreign debt 4 percent of GDP, this year.
